About our visions:
Established in 1991, Windows is a grassroots non-profit organization run by and for Palestinians from both sides of the Green Line and Israeli Jews. We all believe that the current situation of genocide, ethnic cleansing, occupation, discrimination and violation of human rights is unacceptable, and that it is possible to create a future based on democracy, equality, freedom, dignity, and safety for all, in our region and worldwide.
The horrors that are taking place now lead some of us to despair and helplessness, but they do not change our vision for a justice-based future for all of us.
In addition to the challenges youth face today, mostly those living under terrible conditions in Gaza and great risks in the West Bank, as well as some areas inside the Green Line, they face a future that is challenging on all levels - socially, environmentally, and individually. As youth anywhere, they have to repair damage done by previous generations and face great powers that work for their own interests, mostly at the expense of others. It is up to us, parents, teachers, and other adults, to help them prepare for that struggle.
Windows perceives itself as part of a growing local and international movement of people committed to facing those challenges, and to making the world a better and safer place for all of us.
We believe that globally and locally there is a need for a fair distribution of power and resources, and that the vital conditions for justice, well-being and peace must be established and maintained. In order to promote this, it is important to acknowledge that today's events are a result and a continuation of the wrongs done in the past and to take responsibility to act towards restoring and repairing all that is possible.
