Women Groups
Over the years of our work with youth, we have become attuned to the importance of developing a larger community surrounding and supporting the goals of Windows. We want to ensure that our youth do not feel that they are working in isolation, but rather, as part of a supportive network. Working with adults can help form an important foundation for working with youth. Therefore, we aim to develop adult activities in the same places where we run our youth programs.
Additionally, work specifically with women is an important part of what we do. Women’s voices, which are often marginalized in our societies, have the potential to play a powerful role in peace-building. Our work with women is also in line with our goals of developing a community committed to promoting conflict resolution and a more just civil society.
We most recently ran a women’s group in 2009 with women from Ramallah, Tel Aviv, and Tamra (Galilee). Although the project has formally ended, the women are still in touch and looking for opportunities to work together to promote social change.
